“Greggs Surprise: Two Bakeries Open Just Doors Apart”

Must read

The opening of two new Greggs bakeries in close proximity has surprised residents in Farnborough, Hampshire. One Greggs store was already operating at 68 Queensmead, and a second one has now opened just a few doors down at 62/64.

A local resident, Ryan Coates, humorously remarked on the situation, stating, “My town seems to have a special love for Greggs compared to others in the UK.” Coates shared a video on TikTok, showcasing the two nearby bakeries and daring for a third one to be opened.

Residents like Natalie Atkinson and Leanne Gower anticipate friendly competition between the two Greggs stores in town, with Gower mentioning the abundance of Greggs outlets in the area.

However, Greggs has clarified that the original location at 68 Queensmead will be closing down as the new and larger store at 62/64 Queensmead takes over.

A spokesperson from Greggs mentioned the relocation of the store to the bigger unit and expressed eagerness to welcome both loyal customers and new patrons to the updated shop.

Gillian Long, the Retail Operations Director at Greggs, shared excitement about the improved store in Farnborough, highlighting the addition of new team members and the enhanced customer experience.

In related news, Greggs is planning to increase prices on some items, including breakfast meal deals and biscuits. The chain’s CEO, Roisin Currie, explained the need for the adjustments to maintain affordability.

Greggs recently introduced new seasonal treats like the fajita chicken bake, firecracker crispy chicken burger, and firecracker chicken wrap, along with a range of toasties including the cheese and caramelised onion toastie and the BBQ chicken toastie.

The classic ham and cheese toastie has also been revamped to offer a more melty experience for customers seeking comforting treats during the colder months.
