This sentiment was alive at PortAventura World in Spain as they marked their 30th anniversary, prompting us to embark on a fall getaway with our three kids – aged 15, 11, and three. Packed with excitement, we checked into Hotel Gold River, an immersive themed hotel on the park grounds.
The hotel’s Wild West ambiance set the stage for our daily adventures, with a view of a bustling “main street” just outside our room. The convenience of staying on-site made our park visits seamless, avoiding parking hassles and long commutes. Energized by hearty breakfast buffets, we eagerly explored the park’s diverse themed areas, each offering a unique global experience.
From the Mediterranean vibes of Mediterrà nia to the vibrant celebrations in Mexico, PortAventura took us on a cultural journey through its various lands. Thrilling rides like Dragon Khan and Shambhala in the China section kept our adrenaline pumping, made even better by our Express Passes that minimized wait times.
For those seeking a slower pace, the Far West section provided classic amusement games and water attractions for a dose of fun. Spectacular shows and character meet-and-greets added to the entertainment, with our youngest member particularly enchanted by Sesame Street characters and interactive experiences.
The park’s latest attraction, Uncharted: The Enigma of Penitence, offered a thrilling experience with unexpected twists and turns, leaving us exhilarated and eager for more. As PortAventura celebrated its 30th year, the festive atmosphere extended throughout the resort, complete with special menus and decorations.
Our visit wouldn’t be complete without a side trip to Ferrari Land, where we braved the intense Red Force roller coaster and explored the various interactive exhibits. Each day ended with a return to Hotel Gold River, where we relished in the glow of the park lights, reminiscing on the day’s adventures and creating lasting family memories.
