A mother expressed her love to her teenage daughter in her final moments as she passed away in her arms after enduring a brutal 24-hour assault from her partner. Shawntae Brown, aged 34, succumbed to her injuries inflicted by Joshua Brown, who was recently sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole, five years after the tragic incident.
The daughter, now 20 years old, fondly remembered her mother and shared that she felt a sense of comfort knowing her mother passed away in her embrace. Joshua Brown subjected Shawntae to a prolonged beating using various objects, prompting their children, including the daughter who spoke to the media, to clean up the aftermath in their Oklahoma City home.
Despite prior signs of abuse, the daughter acknowledged her mother’s efforts to shield them from the truth. Reflecting on the traumatic event, she questioned her father’s previous behavior and expressed the difficulty of that particular night. The assault lasted a full day, culminating in Shawntae’s death in front of her children, as emergency services arrived too late to save her.
Now a second-year university student studying media and communications, the daughter aims to honor her mother’s memory by embodying her selflessness and love. She emphasized her mother’s exceptional qualities as a parent and the impact she had on her life.
