“Sky Shifts Focus to Internet Products as Humax Introduces Aura EZ 4K TV Recorder”

Must read

Sky Q, known for its exceptional performance, is a leading set-top box in the market. Despite its popularity, Sky is shifting focus to internet-based products like Sky Stream box and Sky Glass TV. This move may pave the way for a new competitor to enter the market.

Humax has introduced the Aura EZ 4K TV Recorder, a device that shares many features with Sky Q. Equipped with a 2TB hard drive for storing TV shows and movies, the Aura EZ provides physical recording options, a rare feature in today’s market.

Powered by Freely, the Aura EZ offers live TV viewing over broadband, courtesy of Freeview’s team. With access to over 60 live channels and a vast library of on-demand content, the device allows easy portability, simple installation, and regular updates.

The Aura EZ boasts 4K HDR picture quality, Dolby Digital Plus audio, and an integrated TV guide displaying current and upcoming programs. Users can manage the box remotely via the Humax Aura EZ smartphone app, enabling schedule browsing and recording management from any location.

While Freely may not match Sky’s premium sports and movie offerings, it stands out for being free to use without any subscription fees.

The Humax Aura EZ is scheduled for a UK launch in February 2026, priced at £249.

In a related development, Sky has unveiled a new subscription bundle that combines major streaming services at a reduced monthly rate. For £24 per month, customers gain access to Disney+, Netflix, Hayu, and upcoming HBO Max.

Sky’s bundle offers excellent value by consolidating multiple streaming platforms under one subscription. Ultimate TV plan subscribers will also receive access to over 130 premium channels, including Sky Comedy, Sky Documentaries, Sky Crime, and Sky History.

Additionally, Sky Cinema customers will enjoy a new Disney movie channel directly integrated into the TV guide.

The £24 bundle includes:

– Netflix Standard with Ads
– Disney+ Standard with Ads (from March)
– HBO Max Basic with Ads (from March 26)
– Hayu (from July, with selected content available from March)
– Over 130 Sky channels
