Must read

Towie celebrity Lydia Bright recently opened up about the deep personal significance of the prestigious Pride of Britain Awards to her. Attending the star-studded event at London’s Grosvenor House Hotel, Lydia, along with other notable personalities like Peter Andre, Olivia Atwood, Laura Anderson, Pete Wicks, and Sam Thompson, captivated onlookers in a stunning pink gown during the awards’ drinks reception.

Lydia, a mother to her daughter Loretta Rose, shared her heartfelt connection to the foster care system, citing her mother’s enduring role as a foster carer for over three decades as a major inspiration in her life. She expressed admiration for her mother’s dedication and emphasized the importance of celebrating children, especially those in foster care.

The event highlighted the remarkable achievements of young individuals like Luke Mortimer, a quadruple amputee who raised funds for disabled children, and Zach Eagling, a courageous teenager who advocated for epilepsy law reform. Additionally, 17-year-old cancer patient Georgie Hyslop was recognized as the Good Morning Britain Young Fundraiser of The Year for her outstanding charity efforts.

Lydia praised the event as a gathering of inspirational figures, particularly acknowledging the incredible children honored at the awards. A vocal advocate for children in care, Lydia has been vocal about the need for better support for young adults leaving care at 18, criticizing the current system for setting them up for failure.

Describing fostering as a significant part of her life, Lydia emphasized the lifelong commitment she believes foster carers should have towards their foster children. Her advocacy extends to calling for continued support for vulnerable young adults transitioning out of care to ensure their success in society.

The Daily Mirror Pride of Britain Awards, in partnership with P&O Cruises, will be broadcast on ITV1 on Thursday, October 23 at 8 pm.
