Gail’s bakery chain has announced that ten of its locations will be open for business on Christmas Day. Additionally, customers visiting these bakeries on December 25 will receive complimentary mince pies. All Gail’s bakeries will maintain regular operating hours on Christmas Eve and Boxing Day.

Through a social media post on Instagram, Gail’s stated that some of their bakeries will welcome guests on Christmas Day, offering a space for coffee, baked goods, and a friendly ambiance during the tranquil morning hours. Furthermore, visitors will be treated to a free mince pie as a token of appreciation for spending part of their day at Gail’s (while supplies last).

The bakery chain recently announced its expansion plans to open 40 new stores in England, including locations outside of London. Gail’s had a successful financial year ending in February 2025, with sales reaching £278 million, showing a 20% increase compared to the previous year. Despite the growth in sales, pre-tax losses rose to £7.8 million due to business expenses and staff costs associated with new store openings.

With over 4,000 employees as of February, Gail’s expanded its workforce by approximately 500 individuals through recruitment efforts. The company’s wholesale division supplies baked goods to supermarkets like Waitrose and Ocado. Gail’s highlighted its sourdough loaf priced from around £4.80 as a popular item and emphasized the importance of providing top-quality food in appealing neighborhood bakeries to sustain growth.

A company spokesperson expressed satisfaction with the strong year-on-year growth, attributing it to the rising demand for nutritious, high-quality food and community support. The spokesperson affirmed the commitment to ongoing growth while focusing on enhancing access to quality food products.
