“Yorkshire’s Dumble Farm: A Highland Cow Haven”

Must read

If you have a family member or friend who loves Highland cows, a top-notch experience in Yorkshire could be an ideal last-minute Christmas gift for them.

Dumble Farm, located in Beverley, Yorkshire, is a fully operational farm offering various cow-themed activities with their charming heifers. Additionally, guests have the option to spend the night in a field adjacent to the cattle.

The farm recently received the gold award for Experience of the Year at the VisitEngland Awards for Excellence for their Cow Cuddling experience. This therapeutic retreat in East Yorkshire allows visitors to relax by getting up close with the farm’s gentle Highland cows. The unique encounter promotes mindful interaction through activities like petting, grooming, and cuddling these friendly animals.

Due to the farm’s setup, camping and cow interactions are restricted to adults only, with no provision for dogs. Visitors can bring their own tent, caravan, or motorhome, or opt for the farm’s luxurious yurts. The accommodations continue the cow theme with Highland cow-patterned bedding and decor. Guests can enjoy amenities such as a cozy fireplace, running water, and access to a shared bathroom with a shower.

In the field adjacent to the campsite, guests may spot young Highland cows grazing and wandering around, often eager for a gentle chin scratch. Visitors can also visit the cows’ shed, interact with the cows, and explore a woodland area to meet the farm’s goats.

One of the most popular experiences at the farm is Cow Cuddling, offering a chance to cozy up with the affectionate creatures. Additionally, during autumn, visitors can enjoy Calf Handling, where they can groom and walk young Highland cows while sharing some cuddles.

Other available experiences include a Cow Safari and Wildlife Tour, where guests are taken around the farm on a colorful bus, with the opportunity to feed the herd from a trailer. Guests can also opt for “Herd it on the Grapevine,” which includes a tour of the nearby Laurel Vines Vineyard, a Cow Safari, and a picnic with a bottle of wine.

Dumble Farm is a short 15-minute drive from Beverly, a historic market town just north of Hull. Beverley Minster, a notable landmark, stands out as one of the largest parish churches in the UK, built in ornate gothic style mostly during the 13th century. The town’s iconic structure, Beverley Bar, constructed in the 15th century, still stands and can be a challenging passageway for vehicles.

On Saturdays, Beverly Market, operating for centuries, fills the main square with local traders offering artisanal food, produce, arts, crafts, and more.
