“Former TV News Anchor Arrested for Mother’s Murder”

Must read

A television news journalist has been accused of first-degree murder after her elderly mother was fatally stabbed. The journalist, identified as Angelynn ‘Angie’ Mock, a former morning news anchor at Fox 2 News in St. Louis, Missouri, was found by officers covered in blood outside her residence where her mother, Anita Avers, was discovered with multiple stab wounds in her bed. The incident unfolded on the morning of Friday, October 31, prompting a response from the Wichita Police Department.

Anita Avers, an 80-year-old marriage and family therapist, was rushed to a nearby hospital but was pronounced dead at 8:26 am. Mock, 47, had cuts on her hands and was also treated for undisclosed injuries before being taken into custody. Mock, who had a career at Fox 2 News from 2011 to 2015, is currently held at Sedgwick County Jail on a $1 million bond, facing a first-degree murder charge. Details on her legal representation or plea status are yet to be confirmed.

Neighbors reported seeing Mock in a distressed state, covered in blood, seeking help and calling 911. Alyssa Castro, a witness from the neighborhood, expressed relief in assisting Mock during the incident. Emergency dispatchers were informed that the situation was a result of a domestic dispute, where the caller allegedly acted in self-defense. Mock, who transitioned from journalism to sales after her time at Fox 2 News, had been working for a data management software company before her arrest.

Mock, who started her media career as a sports reporter in the Midwest, made a career shift in 2015 after achieving success in journalism. The circumstances surrounding the tragic event are still under investigation with authorities withholding further details on the case.
