A Glasgow woman’s life took a sudden turn when she discovered a cancerous lump earlier this year. Carol Butterly, 69, found the tumour after a shower the day after Valentine’s Day. Prompted by her husband, she quickly sought medical attention and underwent a series of tests and surgery.
Despite initial expectations of a simple lump removal, further examinations revealed the need for a full mastectomy. Through the challenging process, Carol’s resilience and humor remained unwavering, aiding her in coping with the diagnosis.
Following ongoing treatment and support from Beatson Cancer Charity, Carol is now in good spirits. She emphasizes the importance of regular self-checks and early intervention, encouraging others during Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Carol has documented her journey in a book titled “Didn’t Expect That, Did You,” with all proceeds benefiting the charity.
