“Double Cold Weather Payments Issued to UK Households”

Must read

Double Cold Weather Payments have been distributed to certain households this week following snowfall in various parts of the UK.

These payments, valued at £25 each, are granted when the average temperature in your area drops to zero degrees or lower for seven consecutive days. Multiple payments can be received if there are repeated periods of freezing temperatures.

Eighteen postcode regions have now qualified for two Cold Weather Payments, totaling £50, triggered on December 30 and January 6.

To check if you are eligible for a Cold Weather Payment, you can refer to the list of 451 qualifying postcode areas published by the Mirror. If you receive specific benefits or mortgage support, you may be entitled to this payment.

Payments are typically deposited directly into your bank account within 14 working days if you qualify. However, applications are required for those with a baby or a child under five moving in with them.

Administered by the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP), the Cold Weather Payment scheme will be operational until March 31, 2026.

It is important to note that Cold Weather Payments are not applicable in Scotland, where they have been substituted by the Winter Heating Payment, amounting to £59.75.
