When searching for accommodations, be it in the UK or beyond, the numerous options available can make the process overwhelming. However, my recent discovery of a unique four-star boutique hotel in Europe centered around a bathroom theme piqued my interest, leading me to make a reservation.
During a three-night stay at WC by The Beautique Hotels in Lisbon, Portugal, situated on the bustling Almirante Reis street, I opted for a relaxing retreat after attending a wedding and exploring the city.
Upon arrival at the hotel, I was immediately struck by the unconventional bathroom-themed decor, featuring tap graphics on entrance doors and artistic elements like a shower cap-clad woman on a window. The WC concept, representing water closet, was creatively extended throughout the property.
The reception area boasted a large white bathtub with a silver faucet and a rose gold shower head above, complemented by a serene feature wall mimicking raindrops and flowing water, evoking a spa-like ambiance.
As I explored further, I noticed the bathroom theme seamlessly integrated into every corner of the hotel, from the tiled water floor to the unique blue bar with a miniature bathtub housing a bottle of gin, and the reception desk enclosed by a clear shower curtain.
A surprising yet delightful touch was the staff attire, as one receptionist greeted me in long-sleeved silk pajamas, enhancing the overall aesthetic of the establishment. It was amusing to see employees occasionally don towels on their heads, adding to the quirky vibe.
My deluxe double room, booked at a reasonable rate through Expedia, featured a circular bed positioned to offer panoramic views of Lisbon’s streets. The room’s design elements, such as glossy turquoise tiles, glossy-white wardrobes, and bubble-like glasses, further highlighted the bathroom-inspired decor.
While the bathroom design was less extravagant compared to other areas, it provided all necessary amenities and spacious comfort, including plush robes for a relaxing stay.
