“Don’t Miss Out: Claim Winter Fuel Payment Now!”

Must read

An imminent deadline looms for individuals who are yet to receive their Winter Fuel Payment.

The Winter Fuel Payment, which can reach up to £300, is disbursed by the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) to individuals of state pension age. It is important to note that those earning above £35,000 annually will be required to repay the payment through the tax system.

Typically, most recipients should have received their Winter Fuel Payment in either November or December. However, if by January 28, 2026, you have not received it, you are advised to reach out to the Winter Fuel Payment Centre.

To contact the Winter Fuel Payment Centre, you can either call their helpline at 0800 731 0160 or use Relay UK by dialing 18001 followed by 0800 731 0160. If opting to send a letter, the address to use is: Winter Fuel Payment Centre, Mail Handling Site A, Wolverhampton, WV98 1LR.

According to information on GOV.UK, most Winter Fuel Payments are automatically processed in November or December. You should have received a notification letter detailing the payment amount and the designated bank account. Should you not receive this letter or the payment by January 28, 2026, contacting the Winter Fuel Payment Centre is necessary.

Winter Fuel Payments are issued to individuals born before September 22, 1959, who automatically qualify if they claimed specific benefits in the qualifying week of September 15 to 21, 2025. Those who did not claim these benefits need to apply to the Winter Fuel Payment Centre by post or phone before March 31, 2026, while meeting certain eligibility criteria.

In Scotland, the Winter Fuel Payment has been substituted with a new Pension Age Winter Heating Payment, valued between £101.70 and £305.10.
