“Multiple Injuries in Mobile Lounge Crash at Dulles Airport”

Must read

Several individuals are feared to have sustained injuries following an occurrence at an international airport. Approximately 17 people were reportedly involved in an incident where a raised, bus-like transportation vehicle used to transfer passengers between the terminal and an aircraft crashed at Washington Dulles International Airport, situated around 26 miles west of the US capital, on November 10.

The loaded mobile lounge, also referred to as ‘people movers,’ collided with a dock at an angle while approaching the building around 4:30 p.m. local time, according to a post by the airport on the X platform, previously known as Twitter. Passengers exited the mobile lounge using stairs and are currently being assessed by Airports Authority Fire & Rescue personnel for potential injuries.

As per reports from the Daily Star, hospitals in the vicinity have been informed to anticipate up to 17 patients. The airport’s mobile lounges were first introduced in 1962 when the airport commenced operations, and discontinuing the use of these vehicles has been a recent topic of discussion.

Recently, a nominee to the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority (MWAA) Board of Directors stated to lawmakers that he would phase out the people movers at the airport if appointed, as reported by AirlineGeeks. Despite the incident, the airport remains operational, and regular activities are ongoing.
