“Asda Launches Price War Against Competitors”

Must read

Asda has introduced a new price commitment featuring a wide range of everyday products at lower prices compared to Tesco, Sainsbury’s, and Morrisons loyalty card prices. With more than 2,300 items on offer, including fresh meat, produce, chilled goods, core grocery items, and bakery products, Asda aims to provide great value to all customers without the need for a loyalty card.

In addition to the discounted prices, customers shopping at Asda in January will receive 10% back in Asda Rewards Cashpot on all fresh produce purchases made in-store. Rachel Eyre, Chief Customer Officer at Asda, highlighted the initiative as a way to support families managing post-Christmas financial strains and help them save on essential items.

Following a challenging Christmas period where Asda’s market share dropped to 11.4%, the supermarket experienced a 4.2% decline in sales, marking its 22nd consecutive month of decreasing performance. Meanwhile, competitors like Tesco and Sainsbury’s gained more customers, further solidifying their positions ahead of Asda in the UK supermarket sector.

Recently, Tesco announced a commitment to maintaining the affordability of 3,000 branded products consistently through its new Everyday Low Prices campaign, aiming to provide customers with cost-effective shopping options.
