Amazon’s Alexa+ platform, a more advanced version of the popular voice assistant, has now been confirmed to launch in the UK. This upgrade allows users to interact with Alexa in a more conversational manner, tailored to personal preferences and daily routines. Alexa+ adapts its tone based on the context of the conversation, offering a more personalized experience.
With Alexa+, users can create shopping lists, track prices, receive delivery alerts, and compare products through online reviews. Additionally, controlling smart home devices and setting up custom Routines can be done seamlessly through voice commands, eliminating the need to use the Alexa app.
The platform also enables easy control of whole-home speaker setups, allowing users to move music around their homes effortlessly with voice commands. Alexa+ has been optimized to understand and cater to British users’ communication styles.
Meryem Tom, Director of Alexa UK, emphasized the importance of understanding regional nuances and expressions to create a more personalized and relatable experience. Privacy concerns are addressed by Amazon through features like the Alexa Privacy dashboard, giving users control over their interactions and data.
Early Access to Alexa+ is currently being offered for free, with a subsequent monthly fee of £19.99 after the Early Access period ends. Prime members will continue to have free access. Amazon plans to gradually roll out the Early Access offer to hundreds of thousands of customers in the UK in the coming weeks.
