“Teen Darts Prodigy Makes History at WDF World Championship”

Must read

Teen darts prodigy Mitchell Lawrie has amazed Luke Littler with his exceptional performance at the WDF World Championship held at Lakeside. Lawrie, only 15 years old, set a new record by becoming the youngest player to clinch a victory at Lakeside by defeating Tomoya Maruyama and Jason Brandon with remarkable skill.

Lawrie showcased his talent by hitting five maximums and delivering impressive checkouts, culminating in an outstanding 97.21 average, the highest at the tournament. Littler expressed his astonishment towards Lawrie on the WDF Darts Instagram account, lauding the young player’s abilities.

Following his win against Brandon, Lawrie, filled with pride, described his excitement, stating, “I’m absolutely buzzing with myself.” Despite facing a tough opponent in Brandon, Lawrie’s fast start and exceptional gameplay secured his victory and progression to the next round.

Lawrie’s exceptional performance continued as he swiftly finished each leg within less than 15 darts in the first set, narrowly missing a potential nine-dart finish but impressively completing a 134 checkout. Embracing the crowd’s support, Lawrie acknowledged their role in boosting his performance.

While Brandon staged a comeback in the final set, Lawrie remained composed and regained control to secure the win. Reflecting on the match, Lawrie admitted to momentarily losing focus but credited the crowd for reigniting his determination to claim victory.

When questioned about any nerves during his crucial darts, Lawrie dismissed the notion, attributing a missed double two to external distractions. Lawrie’s remarkable journey at Lakeside captivated spectators, setting the stage for the upcoming PDC World Darts Championship starting on December 11, exclusively live on Sky’s Essential TV and Sky Sports bundle.
