“Resurfaced Video: Wes Streeting Joked About Becoming Prime Minister in 2018”

Must read

Wes Streeting, during an interview back in 2018, humorously predicted his future as Prime Minister, as revealed in a recently surfaced video clip. The incident occurred amidst a situation where the Health Secretary had to dismiss rumors of planning a rebellion against Keir Starmer. Streeting, along with other MPs like Paul Sweeney, Preet Kaur Gill, Rupa Huq, and John Woodcock, participated in a segment by comedian Matt Forde where they were asked to speculate on who would hold the PM position in a decade. While most named Jeremy Corbyn, Tory Tim Loughton suggested Kemi Badenoch, Streeting cheekily remarked, “I think probably me.”

The resurfacing of this old clip coincided with Streeting denying any involvement in plotting against Starmer amid escalating speculations on the Prime Minister’s future. Streeting criticized the “feral” behavior of new 2024 MPs allegedly aiming to overthrow the PM, emphasizing the importance of unity within the party.

In response to the ongoing turmoil likened to a reality TV show, Streeting defended the Prime Minister, drawing parallels to a recent incident involving rugby star Joe Marler. He expressed his full support for the PM and condemned any internal attacks within the party.

During the chaos at PMQs, Starmer commended Streeting’s efforts in reducing NHS waiting lists, although facing skepticism from the opposing benches about the Cabinet’s unity. Starmer reaffirmed his dedication to rebuilding the country and denounced any attacks on his cabinet members.

Streeting’s achievements were highlighted, surpassing expectations by delivering five million additional appointments in the first year of a Labour government, exceeding the initial pledge of two million appointments.
