“Everyday Heroes Honored at 2024 Pride of Britain Awards”

These exceptional individuals were recognized at the 2024 Pride of Britain Awards from a vast pool of public nominations. The event, held in London, was co-hosted by Ashley Banjo and Carol Vorderman to honor these everyday heroes.

A heartwarming surprise awaited the winners as P&O Cruises, the new headline sponsor of the Pride of Britain Awards, generously provided each awardee with a cruise holiday. This gesture allowed the winners to embark on a memorable journey with their families.

Three of the heroes had the opportunity to enjoy a 14-night Caribbean voyage aboard Britannia, visiting eight picturesque islands and indulging in top-notch entertainment.

Aiyla Mota, Recognized for Child of Courage

Aiyla Mota fell critically ill just before her fourth birthday, eventually leading to sepsis and the amputation of both her legs and five fingers to save her life. Despite the challenges, this five-year-old has shown incredible resilience, earning her a Pride of Britain Award as one of the youngest ever recipients.

Aiyla’s mother, Eulanda, praised her daughter’s upbeat attitude and increased confidence post-recovery. The family, joined by Aiyla’s grandmother and Eulanda’s partner, embarked on a Caribbean adventure courtesy of P&O Cruises, exploring Britannia’s numerous amenities and enjoying the cruise experience.

“The cruise was an amazing holiday, and we are thankful to P&O Cruises for this wonderful opportunity,” expressed Eulanda. She highlighted Aiyla’s enjoyment of the kids’ club, entertainment, and island excursions, particularly in Barbados, connecting with her family’s roots.

Emily Greenwood, Acknowledged for Outstanding Bravery

During a walk along a Cornish beach with her disabled son, Isaac, Emily Greenwood witnessed a dramatic rescue situation. A 10-year-old boy caught in a riptide prompted Emily to leap into action, swim 400 meters to rescue the boy and his mother, displaying remarkable courage.

Recognized for her bravery at the Pride of Britain Awards, Emily and her family enjoyed a Caribbean cruise, relishing the luxury and attentive service aboard Britannia. The cruise was a dream come true for the family, especially in accommodating Isaac’s dietary needs and providing a relaxing beach experience.
