Apple is commemorating a significant achievement today, marking its 50th anniversary. The renowned tech company was established on April 1, 1976, by Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak in Los Altos, California. They started in Jobs’ parents’ house and garage, where they introduced their first product, the Apple 1.
The inception of this personal computer did not foresee the tremendous success that the brand would achieve, with Apple now standing as one of the world’s largest corporations.
Initially focused on computers, Apple has diversified its product range to include iconic items like the iPod, iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch.
The Verge recently conducted a survey among its audience to determine Apple’s greatest hits. The results may not align with everyone’s expectations.
Unsurprisingly, the original iPhone, launched in 2007, clinched the top spot. This device has evolved into Apple’s flagship product, facilitating communication, entertainment, contactless payments, and photography through its integrated cameras.
During the iPhone’s launch, Steve Jobs famously described it as “An iPod, a phone, and an internet communicator,” emphasizing the device’s multifunctionality.
Ranked second is the iconic iPod, which revolutionized music consumption in 2001 with its promise of “1,000 songs in your pocket,” superseding bulky tape and CD players.
Apple discontinued the iPod range in May 2022.
Contrary to expectations, The Verge readers placed Apple’s M1 chip in third place. This innovative silicon has transformed the performance and efficiency of Apple’s PC lineup, garnering widespread acclaim.
