In a tragic turn of events, a bear attack claimed the life of a 19-year-old girl, Olga Moskalyova, during a leisurely walk in Siberia, Russia, with her stepfather, Igor Tsyganenkov. The peaceful outing by the river took a terrifying twist when they encountered a group of wild bears. Olga was speaking to her mother, Tatiana, on the phone when the brutal attack unfolded, eventually leading to her disappearance.
During the harrowing incident, Olga managed to call her mother multiple times for help, describing the attack and pleading for assistance as the bear mauled her. Tatiana initially thought it was a prank until she heard the distress in her daughter’s voice and the sounds of the bear attacking.
Desperate for help, Olga continued to call her mother until her final call an hour later, where she expressed her last words, indicating that she was no longer in pain. Heartbroken by the tragedy, Tatiana informed the authorities, who arrived at the scene 90 minutes later.
Following the attack, six hunters were sent to track down and eliminate the bears, who were reportedly still feeding on Olga’s body. Despite her sudden and tragic death, Olga was remembered as a vibrant and kind young woman with a promising future, according to her grieving mother.
With bear attacks becoming more frequent in Russia, especially in wildlife areas as the animals seek food and perceive human presence as a threat to their territory, tragedies like Olga’s serve as a stark reminder of the dangers posed by wildlife encounters.
Olga, who was described as a fun and friendly individual, had recently achieved milestones like graduating from music school and obtaining her driver’s license before the unfortunate incident that led to her untimely demise alongside her stepfather in 2011.
