A renowned theme park in Devon is gearing up to enhance its array of family-friendly offerings in 2026 by introducing two new rides in the upcoming spring and summer seasons.
Crealy, situated in Clyst St Mary, Exeter, clinched accolades for Best Theme Park for Families (Small) and Best Theme Park for Toddlers (Small) for its Sooty Land attraction at the 2025 UK Theme Park Awards.
The addition of two new attractions will complement the park’s existing lineup of over 60 rides and experiences, including popular attractions like the Tidal Wave log flume and the unique Maximus Rollercoaster with its Roman theme.
In the spring, visitors can look forward to the unveiling of Pirates’ Plummet, which is set to be the tallest drop tower adventure in the South West. Formerly known as Magma at Paultons Park in Hampshire, this attraction will now sport a pirate-themed design, offering thrills for guests over 110cm tall, while those over 130cm can ride alone, according to Devon Live.
During the summer months, the park will introduce Rotor, touted as the first inverted attraction in the South West. This high-speed ride will spin and flip passengers, providing a gravity-defying experience.
Although details about Rotor are currently limited, preview images show participants securely seated. Since its establishment in the late 1980s, Crealy’s theme park has been a popular choice for families, and it aims to widen its appeal to older children while maintaining its reputation for memorable experiences.
In recent years, the park has continually expanded its offerings. Notably, in 2022, it unveiled Sooty Land, the UK’s first dedicated theme park area based on the beloved children’s show, Sooty.
Sooty Land features The Sooty Show Live, where visitors can enjoy performances by Sooty, Sweep, and friends. Additionally, the area includes four Sooty-themed rides and special meet-and-greet opportunities for youngsters.
In 2012, the park introduced various accommodation options on-site, such as lodges, glamping sites, and camping areas, allowing families to choose stay-and-play packages with unlimited park access throughout their stay.
Staying at Crealy offers convenient access to Exeter, where visitors can explore historical landmarks like Exeter Cathedral and the Royal Albert Memorial Museum. Heading towards the coast, guests can discover the charming seaside town of Exmouth, known for its sandy beach and traditional British seaside atmosphere.
Exmouth is also home to the World of Country Life, a farming museum with indoor and outdoor attractions, as well as the Exmouth Museum, showcasing the vibrant history of South Devon.
