A man from the UK passed away after collapsing at the summit of a mountain during a hike for his daughter’s birthday. The 63-year-old climbed Ella Rock in southern Sri Lanka and suffered a heart attack upon reaching the top. The challenging climb, completed on October 25 to mark his daughter’s 34th birthday, ended tragically when he suddenly collapsed at the peak, despite efforts to save him.
Following an autopsy, it was determined that the man had experienced a fatal heart attack. He and his daughter had arrived in Sri Lanka on October 16, exploring Weligama before embarking on the trip to Ella Rock. The Foreign Office confirmed their assistance to the family in light of the man’s passing.
This incident occurred shortly after another tragic event in Sri Lanka, where a British fashion and travel influencer, Ebony McIntosh, lost her life to a mysterious illness. Ebony, 24, from Derby, fell ill while on what was described as the “holiday of a lifetime.” Rushed to the hospital with other affected tourists, she sadly passed away within hours of admission. In a heartfelt tribute, her sister expressed deep sorrow and the desire for Ebony to return home.
The family continues to seek justice for Ebony, whose sudden death has left them devastated.
