A woman aged 49 is in a critical state under police supervision in a hospital following an incident in an Oxfordshire village where a nine-year-old girl lost her life, and two other children were injured.
Authorities were alerted to a residence on Middle Street, Islip, at 11:15 am on Tuesday, October 21, due to reports of three children being assaulted. Thames Valley Police reported that the nine-year-old girl was pronounced deceased at the scene, while a boy and a girl were hospitalized for injuries and later discharged.
The identities of those involved, including the deceased nine-year-old girl, have not been revealed by the police. A spokesperson mentioned that a post-mortem examination was conducted, but the cause of death remains undetermined pending further investigation. The girl’s family is receiving support from trained family liaison officers and has asked for privacy during this challenging period.
Detective Inspector Amy Fox stated that the woman is still hospitalized, and there are no other suspects being pursued in connection with the incident. She expressed condolences to the child’s family and emphasized the tragic nature of the event. The police are continuing their presence in the area, and anyone with information is urged to come forward.
