In Ohio, a tragic incident unfolded as a man fatally shot two children and another man before taking his own life, according to law enforcement officials.
Ryan Eagon, aged 42, is alleged to have committed the heinous act, killing a seven-month-old infant he shared with his wife, her seven-year-old son, and the child’s father. This devastating event occurred following the revelation that his wife intended to leave their residence due to ongoing domestic conflicts, as detailed by the Tiffin Police Department.
Responding to a report of gunfire just before 6:30 pm on Wednesday, police arrived at the 100 block of Huss Street in Tiffin. At the scene, they found four individuals suffering from gunshot wounds. Additionally, a woman, though physically unharmed, was visibly traumatized and in a state of shock. Authorities are treating the incident as a suspected murder-suicide.
The father of the seven-year-old boy, Dustin Willey, aged 29, was assisting the woman in moving out when the tragic events unfolded. Both Willey and the woman believed Eagon was away for work.
While Willey and the woman were inside the home gathering belongings, the children were outside near a vehicle. Upon hearing the eldest boy’s distress, they rushed to the driveway where they were confronted by Eagon.
Eagon then reportedly pursued Willey, firing multiple shots at him, before turning the gun on the children and subsequently aiming at Willey again. The tragic sequence culminated in Eagon taking his own life with a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Following the ordeal, the mother called 911 and carried her deceased children back into the house. Willey and the seven-year-old boy succumbed to their injuries at Tiffin Mercy Hospital. The baby and Eagon were pronounced dead at the scene.
Describing Willey as a dedicated father, his former boss, Kelly Gallagher, highlighted his commitment to his son and praised his active involvement in his child’s life.
Tiffin Police Chief David Pauly, in a Facebook post, expressed the community’s shock at the unprecedented tragedy and urged residents to support the victims’ families and the first responders dealing with the aftermath.
Autopsies are pending from the Seneca County Coroner’s Office as the investigation into the incident continues.
