Donald Trump has sparked fresh concerns about his health after being observed walking with a noticeable limp while spending time with his grandson. The US president was seen with his nine-year-old grandson, Theodore Kushner, on the White House Presidential Walk of Fame over the weekend. During their time together, they were tossing an NFL football back and forth. However, many viewers noted that the 79-year-old appeared to struggle to walk in a straight line, with one leg dragging as he moved.
Some online commentators humorously remarked on Trump’s gait, with one suggesting that his walk would require a breathalyser test under different circumstances. Another individual quipped about walking similarly when intoxicated. Referring to the president as “Limpy Don,” a third user expressed concerns about his well-being, specifically noting the dragging of his left leg in the footage.
These observations follow remarks made by clinical psychologist Dr. John Gartner regarding the president’s right leg movement. Dr. Gartner suggested that Trump’s coordination has worsened over time, indicating a potential sign of dementia. He emphasized that such motor performance deterioration is often linked to cognitive decline.
Dr. Gartner further elaborated that Trump has exhibited a specific symptom, known as a “leg swing,” which is considered diagnostic of Frontotemporal dementia. He explained that the swinging of the right leg in a semicircular motion is a distinctive feature associated with this form of dementia. Other medical professionals have reportedly identified this characteristic in Trump as well.
Despite these concerns, Trump has dismissed worries about his health, referencing a recent White House physical examination that affirmed his “excellent cognitive and physical health.” Earlier speculations about bruises on his hand led to a diagnosis of chronic venous insufficiency, a condition affecting blood flow to the heart.
