“Dr Pepper’s ‘Cream Swirl’ Surprise Wows Gunwharf Quays Shoppers”

Must read

Most shoppers hope to snag deals when visiting local stores or food stalls nowadays. However, during a recent weekend shopping trip, I encountered an unexpected surprise.

Residing in Portsmouth, the go-to shopping destination is Gunwharf Quays, given the lackluster state of the high street. This waterfront designer outlet is renowned for housing over 90 outlet stores that offer discounts of up to 60% off retail prices, featuring renowned brands like Polo Ralph Lauren, Hugo Boss, Nike, Adidas, Mulberry, and Kate Spade.

Aside from the variety of shops, Gunwharf Quays boasts more than 30 dining options, including popular eateries like Wagamama, Nando’s, Brasserie Blanc, Giggling Squid, and Loch Fyne.

Visitors can also explore the iconic Spinnaker Tower, a 170-meter tall structure that provides breathtaking views of the Solent and Isle of Wight. Moreover, the area features a 14-screen Vue Cinema, a 26-lane Hollywood Bowl, a Grosvenor Casino, and the Aspex contemporary art gallery.

For those seeking more adventure, there are opportunities for powerboat rides, harbor tours, or leisurely strolls along the marina to admire the visiting yachts.

The bustling atmosphere at Gunwharf Quays attracts a significant number of visitors annually, with reports indicating around 7.3 million people visit each year. As of 2025, it remains the top attraction in Portsmouth, drawing nearly 65% of all travelers to the city.

Given its popularity, many brands opt to showcase their products at Gunwharf Quays. One such example is Dr Pepper, who recently promoted their new limited-edition flavor ‘Cream Swirl’ at the location. The promotional tactics involved unique strategies like a person dressed as a giant Dr Pepper can interacting with customers, alongside a man on a human hamster wheel with the slogan ‘Do you dare to cream?’.

Despite the unconventional marketing approach, the campaign seemed to resonate with visitors. In fact, the quirky display prompted me to share my experience on TikTok.

The ‘Cream Swirl’ flavor, introduced in the UK on February 23, 2026, combines the classic 23-flavor taste of Dr Pepper with a velvety creamy twist. The product is set to be available until February 2027 and can be found in major supermarkets and convenience stores nationwide, including Tesco, Sainsbury’s, and Morrisons.

Perhaps supporting this new flavor will lead to its success, sparing the individual in the oversized suit from further mall appearances!
