“Host of ‘Chicken Shop Date’ Wraps Up Show”

Must read

After over a decade of engaging in conversations and light-hearted interactions with movie stars, musicians, and athletes over some fried chicken, Amelia Dimoldenberg, the host of the popular YouTube show “Chicken Shop Date,” revealed this week that she is wrapping up the show.

In an Instagram post on Thursday, Dimoldenberg expressed her gratitude to her audience for joining her on this journey and finding joy in the episodes. She described the show as her personal romantic comedy and shared that while she never anticipated ending “Chicken Shop Date,” she believes it’s time to embark on a new adventure.

Twelve years ago, Dimoldenberg initiated the show by interviewing musicians within Britain’s underground rap scene. Over time, she expanded her guest list to include celebrities such as Keke Palmer, Conan O’Brien, Paul McCartney, and Jack Harlow, accumulating nearly 3.5 million subscribers on her YouTube channel.

“Chicken Shop Date” follows a straightforward format where Dimoldenberg accompanies a celebrity to a fried chicken shop in London for a casual date, asking a mix of flirty, humorous, and occasionally awkward questions. The dynamic often resembles playful banter typical of a first date rather than a conventional talk show interview, occasionally leading to genuine flirtatious moments, as witnessed in her encounter with Andrew Garfield.

Dimoldenberg’s interviews have also featured Canadians like Ryan Reynolds, who amusingly mistook the character name played by his wife, Blake Lively, on “Gossip Girl.” Similarly, Shania Twain disclosed during her 2023 appearance that she had never met Brad Pitt, despite referencing him in her song “That Don’t Impress Me Much.”

The success of her YouTube channel has opened new doors for Dimoldenberg, including a stint on the Oscars red carpet this year, where she interviewed another Canadian, Hudson Williams. While her future plans post-“Chicken Shop Date” remain undisclosed, she is currently involved in developing a young adult drama series for the BBC, as reported by Deadline.

In her farewell message on Instagram, Dimoldenberg hinted at a few more dates lined up before bidding farewell to the show for good.
