“Caldwell Construction Limited Enters Administration, 400 Jobs at Risk”

Must read

A civil engineering and groundworks company, Caldwell Construction Limited, has gone into administration, jeopardizing more than 400 jobs. The company, established in 2007, has enlisted administrators from PKF Littlejohn Advisory, with offices in Stoke-on-Trent and Warrington. Paul Smith, a Partner at PKF Littlejohn Advisory UK LLP, cited tough trading conditions in the construction sector, leading to financial pressures on Caldwell. Despite a £58.4 million turnover last year, the company struggled with low operating profits. Efforts to sustain operations outside insolvency were unsuccessful, prompting the decision to enter administration. Joint Administrator Oliver Collinge is now focusing on assisting employees and stakeholders during the evaluation of the company’s assets. In a separate incident, Consumer Energy Solutions, a Wales-based energy provider, also collapsed into administration, affecting nearly 300 employees. The closure was attributed to the conclusion of a government-backed energy scheme. Staff members expressed shock and uncertainty about their future as the company ceased operations immediately. The administration of Consumer Energy Solutions is specific to that entity and does not involve other companies within the City Energy Group.
