“Christian Horner Considered for Aston Martin Team Principal”

Must read

Christian Horner is reportedly being considered as a potential replacement for Andy Cowell as Aston Martin’s team principal. Cowell, aged 56, is rumored to be on the verge of dismissal following the recent Las Vegas Grand Prix. Since leaving Red Bull in July, Horner has been actively seeking a return to Formula 1.

After a turbulent Las Vegas GP, reports from RacingNews365 suggest that Cowell is facing removal from his position at Aston Martin due to the team’s current struggles in the Constructors’ Championship, where they sit in seventh place, just eight points ahead of Sauber in ninth. The front-runner to succeed Cowell is believed to be former McLaren and Sauber executive, Andreas Seidl.

However, BBC Sport indicates that Horner is also in contention to take over from Cowell. Horner, a prominent figure in the Formula 1 world, has been linked with various teams since his departure, including Ferrari, Haas, and Alpine, making this opportunity with Aston Martin potentially his most significant one yet.

Notably, rumors of Horner joining Aston Martin surfaced before the Singapore Grand Prix but were swiftly dismissed by Cowell, who stated that there were no plans for Horner to be involved with the team in any capacity in the future.

If Horner were to return to the grid with Aston Martin, it would lead to a reunion with his rival Zak Brown, the CEO of McLaren Racing, who had previously praised Horner’s achievements but noted a perceived change in him over the years.

Meanwhile, Red Bull, Horner’s former team, celebrated success in Las Vegas as Max Verstappen won the race, keeping his hopes alive in the Drivers’ Championship. However, both McLaren cars were disqualified post-race, affecting the standings and setting the stage for an intense competition moving forward.
