A Coronation Street legend looks out of this world in a brand new snap 27 years after leaving the soap. Chloe Newsome, who was best known for being the second actress to play Vicky McDonald, was on the long-running soap for seven years before leaving the cobbles in 1998.
She steered clear of the spotlight after her departure and only showed up for small roles in 2005’s The Jealous God and 2011’s Lost Christmas. In 1998, the same year she left the show, she also appeared in police procedural series, The Bill, as Jacky Marsh and The Life and Crimes of William Palmer as Eliza Tharm.
In Corrie, she replaced Helen Warburton as Vicky and joined the show as Alec Gilroy’s daughter. Vicky found love with Steve McDonald and married him as his first wife.
After her parents died, Alex and Bet raised her and she inherited a quarter of a million pounds when she turned 18. However, her husband took her money and lost it all on stolen whiskey which complicated their marriage.
She soon exited the show and it was said she moved to Brighton to open her own wine bar but, due to financial difficulties, she called Bet to ask for a loan.
Vicky was mentioned in 2002 when it was revealed she was happily married to someone called Martin. In a recent picture, the Vicky actress looked happy as she posed for a snap with a roller blade hanging from her shoulder.
She looked quirky in a pink skirt, red-and-white striped shirt with a leopard-print cardigan on top. She kept warm with an added layer of fluffy gilet.
Over the last decade, Chloe mainly concentrates on stage work and appeared in Twelfth Night, Othello and A Midsummer Night’s Dream.
Meanwhile, her on screen husband Steve (played by Simon Gregson) is currently in one of the lowest points of his life after his wife Michelle Connor (Paula Lane) learned he’s fathered a baby with her pal Leanne Battersby (Jane Danson)
Simon has been Steve on the show since 1989 and took a break in 2015 for “personal reason”. He quickly returned a year after and has remained ever since.
Corrie star Simon recently sparked concern over his marriage after seemingly ditching his wedding ring. The actor has been married to wife Emma for 14 years.
Simon fuelled split rumours earlier this year when a tax report regarding his finances said the star and his “estranged” wife, had three years to pay back debt from their production company’s account.
And he’s now got tongues wagging again after appearing without his wedding band while out running errands after Emma was spotted without hers last month.
