“Cruise Lines Implement Strict Bans and Etiquette Rules”

Must read

Embarking on a cruise offers a unique way to explore the world, but it comes with its own set of rules different from those of a typical hotel stay. Passengers must adhere to specific etiquette and follow strict regulations due to safety and the close quarters on board.

Several cruise lines have recently imposed bans on certain travel items for safety or behavioral reasons. To avoid any issues, passengers are advised to confirm with their cruise operator the items permitted in their luggage.

In an effort to cut costs, some passengers have tried innovative ways such as bringing Starlink Mini devices on board for internet access via satellite. However, major cruise companies like Carnival, Royal Caribbean, and Norwegian have prohibited passenger-owned Starlink devices, citing potential interference with the ship’s systems and WiFi connectivity.

In response to a popular dance trend, Carnival Cruises in the USA banned the use of paper clack fans typically used in a TikTok dance routine. While these fans are still allowed in certain areas on board, they are restricted from nightclubs and indoor dance floors due to safety concerns.

Moreover, Bluetooth speakers have been banned by many cruise lines to prevent noise disturbances, annoyance to other guests, and potential interference with important announcements. Celebrity, Carnival, and MSC are among the cruise operators enforcing this rule.

Cruise Passenger reported that Carnival has also prohibited upside-down pineapples, a symbol associated with swinging activities, from being displayed on their cruises. Carnival’s guidelines emphasize that any decorations should not contain offensive messages, nudity, or inappropriate content.
