On tonight’s EastEnders, Linda Carter was seen going on her first date since the death of her husband Mick. Linda headed to Harry’s Barn with Jeff – who she was introduced to by Kim Fox.
Despite being everything she would want on paper – including not being a big drinker – the date got all too much for Linda when she emotionally opened up about Mick. She then apologised to Jeff as she ‘wasn’t ready’ and walked out of the bar. However, not all is lost…
Upon arriving home, Linda walked in on her son Johnny and his ‘fling’ Felix kissing. Felix then left to get to another date. Linda was left flabbergasted that Johnny was okay with this as he began to inform her that dating doesn’t have to be so serious.
Linda then promised she’d ‘get back out there’ but fans don’t think it’s Jeff she’ll be calling. In fact, they think she’ll start a relationship with one unlikely resident…
Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, one fan wrote: “I know it’s not encouraged given both of their issues with alcohol but I kinda ship Linda and Phil ngl. #eastenders,” while another penned: “so linda and phil will like each other, sharon will find out and get jealous, and then she will tell phil she wants him. i see it already #EastEnders”
A third penned: “Phil Mitchel and Linda Carter might as well start dating #Eastenders,” as a fourth said: “I think Phil and Linda are going to get together… #EastEnders.”
Linda and Phil have a strong friendship in the soap, as they both helped each other through hard times. Last year, Linda was taken to rehab for her alcoholism, and Phil, who had been in the same boat was there to help her through.
Linda was then seen alongside Nigel and Grant during the 40th anniversary episode, as she attempted to talk Phil out of taking his own life. Along with Nigel, she then persuaded him to go to the Mental Health Unit, which he has recently come out of after a successful stint.
The two shared a heart-warming moment when Phil arrived home, as Linda encouraged Phil to tell her best friend Sharon how he feels about her.
“#EastEnders Another great scene between Linda & Phil tonight,” said one fan on the emotional scenes. “I love that even when times are tough Linda continues to stay strong and look out for those she cares deeply about. Encouraging Phil to fight for what he wants has also helped Linda gain a new outlook.”
EastEnders airs Mondays to Thursdays at 7:30pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
