EasyJet has announced a new route from a UK airport to a renowned culinary destination. Residents of Liverpool and surrounding areas will soon have the chance to fly to Naples for as low as £40.99. With this addition, easyJet now offers 41 routes in 17 countries across Europe and North Africa.
Naples, known as the birthplace of pizza, saw the inception of this beloved dish in the 1600s. Pizza has evolved from a humble street food to a global culinary icon. UNESCO recognizes the Neapolitan pizza-making tradition as an intangible cultural heritage. A 2019 YouGov survey revealed that Italian cuisine is highly esteemed worldwide, with Naples boasting numerous exceptional pizzerias.
Notable pizzerias in Naples include L’Antica Pizzeria da Michele, renowned for its minimalist menu featuring classic pizzas like Margherita and Marinara. Sorbillo is another popular spot known for its light, airy dough and fresh toppings.
Travelers can also explore Pompeii, a short 20-minute train ride from Naples. Preserved by the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in AD 79, Pompeii offers a unique glimpse into ancient daily life, with well-preserved homes, streets, and even graffiti.
Naples enjoys a mild climate with average temperatures of 15°C even in colder months and temperatures reaching the mid-30s in summer. Flights from Liverpool to Naples will operate twice a week starting from August 3, with bookings available on easyJet’s website and mobile app. To support the new routes, easyJet plans to expand its fleet next summer.
Kevin Doyle, easyJet’s UK country manager, expressed the airline’s commitment to providing affordable travel options. Robin Tudor from Liverpool John Lennon Airport highlighted the new opportunities for travelers to explore Naples and its surrounding attractions. EasyJet now operates from 22 UK airports, offering over 630 routes to 140 destinations across the UK, Europe, and beyond.
