Holiday Chocolate Tin Prices Soar: Budget Tips!

Must read

This festive season, many of us enjoy treating ourselves to a tin of chocolates to share with loved ones or savor alone. However, if you’re thinking about buying one, it might be wise to budget ahead.

In the past, a tin of holiday chocolates typically cost no more than a few pounds. Yet, during my recent supermarket visit, I was shocked to see the prices of Cadbury Roses and Heroes tins. At my local Sainsbury’s, I had considered picking up a tin to enjoy while watching a Christmas movie, only to find out that both 700g tins were priced at £16.50.

While Nectar cardholders can snag the chocolates for £10, it still seems quite pricey from my perspective. Thankfully, Sainsbury’s offers more budget-friendly options for chocolate tins this Christmas season.

For instance, the Cadbury Dairy Milk Chocolate Mixed Chunks Tin (60g) is priced at £9.59 or £6.50 with a Nectar card. Additionally, a 750g tin of Quality Street costs £13 or £8.50 with a Nectar card.

Moreover, shoppers can purchase tubs of Celebrations, Heroes, and Quality Street in the 500-550g range for just £6 each.

For those seeking even better deals, Tesco is currently selling the same 500-550g tubs of Celebrations and Quality Street for just £3.95 with a Clubcard, or £4.50 without the card. Furthermore, the £16.50/£10 Heroes tin at Sainsbury’s is available for only £7.50 with a Clubcard at Tesco, though the regular price is £15.

Recent findings revealed the most economical supermarkets for Christmas chocolate tubs. Asda offers standard tubs of Heroes, Roses, and Celebrations for under £5, while Morrisons sells them for £7 (or £5.50 with a Morrisons More Card).

At Tesco, Celebrations and Quality Street tubs are priced at just £3.95 with a Clubcard, while Roses and Heroes are available for £7 (or £5.25 with a Clubcard). Aldi and Lidl also have tubs priced below £5.

While Marks and Spencer and Waitrose do not carry the traditional tubs online, they offer smaller pouch-sized packets and alternative festive chocolates ranging from approximately £4 to £10.
