Jealous Ex Vandalizes Car, Fined £120

Must read

A woman, Holly Jennings, was brought to court for vandalizing her ex-boyfriend’s car in a fit of jealousy. Jennings, 29, caused approximately £3,000 in damages to the vehicle, which was parked outside her ex’s residence in Crewe, Cheshire. She shattered the windshield and etched the word “dog” onto the bonnet as part of a vengeful act earlier this year.

The incident came to light when a neighbor informed Jennings’ ex-partner about the destruction while he was away with his new partner. Despite expressing regret for her actions, Jennings pleaded guilty to criminal damage on October 14. She was fined £120 and ordered to pay £133 in costs and a surcharge. Following her court appearance at Warrington Magistrates’ Court, Jennings was seen leaving the premises appearing jovial.

During the court proceedings, it was revealed that Jennings and the car’s owner, who share a child, had ended their relationship, prompting Jennings to lash out in retaliation when he initiated a new romance. Despite her ex-partner’s reluctance to support the prosecution, the court deemed the act as a vengeful attack aggravated by the domestic nature of the situation.

Representing herself in court, Jennings acknowledged her responsibilities as a parent and disclosed her reliance on Universal Credit. When questioned by District Judge Jack McGarva about the incident, Jennings expressed remorse and affirmed that she knew her actions were wrong. She also stated that she would not repeat such behavior and acknowledged the lessons learned from the arrest and court proceedings.

In delivering the sentence, the judge refrained from ordering compensation but emphasized the need for Jennings to move on from the bitterness towards her ex-partner. The judge recognized the impulsive nature of the offense, Jennings’ lack of prior convictions, and her contrition. Consequently, a fine was imposed with the expectation that Jennings would not engage in similar behavior in the future.
