Lando Norris was quick to find his stylish girlfriend Margarida Corceiro after securing his position as the Formula 1 champion. The British driver was seen embracing and kissing the Portuguese model in the midst of the crowd before heading to the podium to celebrate his victory over Max Verstappen and Oscar Piastri at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.
Norris only needed to secure third place at the Yas Marina Circuit to clinch the championship, holding a 12-point lead over Verstappen before the race. Despite briefly losing second place to his teammate Piastri early on, Norris managed to maintain his position and secure the title.
Charles Leclerc posed a late challenge for Norris but eventually lost pace in his Ferrari, allowing Norris a clear path to the finish line and the championship title. Overwhelmed with emotion, Norris expressed his gratitude to his team over the radio, thanking them for making his dreams a reality.
After exiting his car, Norris shared emotional moments with his parents and girlfriend, Corceiro. Their relationship became public earlier this season after years of an on-and-off connection, confirming their reunion.
Corceiro, who has been in the public eye for some time, has garnered increased attention as the partners of F1 drivers gained more visibility this year. Following the Singapore Grand Prix, where partners were frequently shown on screen during the live broadcast, Norris’ former teammate Carlos Sainz criticized the focus on WAGs, suggesting more emphasis should be placed on the competition.
In response to the attention, Corceiro mentioned in an interview with Portuguese media that she does not seek out the cameras and is sometimes unaware of being filmed.
Reflecting on his achievement, Norris expressed his emotions, acknowledging the support of his team, family, and competitors. He commended Verstappen and Piastri, stating it was a pleasure to race against them and learn from their experiences. Norris emphasized his pride in the team’s success and his long-standing relationship with McLaren, highlighting the significance of bringing home the championship for the team.
