Lucy Beaumont reveals how she changed after Jon Richardson split ‘I don’t take any s**t’

Must read

Lucy Beaumont candidly revealed the impact of her split from fellow comedian Jon Richardson that has left her “just a bit angrier”. The TV stars announced their shock split last year after marrying in 2015.

They welcomed daughter Elsie together, having met back in 2013 thanks to mutual friend Roisin Conaty. Lucy and Jon blended both their personal and work life thanks to their number of shows including Meet The Richardsons.

The couple gave fans a look into their relationship and dynamic with each other, which left fans even more shocked when they announced their split.

In April, they said: “After 9 years of marriage, we would like to announce that we have separated. We have jointly and amicably made the difficult decision to divorce and go our separate ways.”

Jon went on to hand Lucy a staggering £1.625 million as they settled their divorce. He has since made the drastic decision to quit comedy all together and have a completely different career as a teacher.

Lucy, who has reportedly moved on with a sound engineer boyfriend, has continued to work in comedy since the split but admitted she will be making very different choices going forward.

She told The Times : “I don’t regret anything but equally, over this next stage I am very much keeping my personal life personal. I sometimes feel guilty that I talked about my daughter and my marriage, and my mum and my dad.

“I think partly I was feeling grateful, grateful that I was getting the work, grateful that I was being interviewed, and feeling like I had to sacrifice and share everything.”

In the autumn, Lucy broke her silence on the split for the first time and detailed how it has changed her. She told Ok! Magazine : “People might think I should talk about it because we were so public and everyone knew us as a couple, but I won’t, and not because there’s any animosity.

“We both agreed that while it might be weird for other people not hearing anything about it, we wouldn’t talk about anything to do with the marriage or each other.”

She added: “I don’t feel any different really, just a bit angrier and not willing to take any s**t from anyone.” In a shock new update, Jon has revealed he is quitting comedy despite his huge career success.

Posting on social media, he said: “I just thought I’d give you a little update. I don’t really do social media updates, and I’ll tell you why – because I don’t think anyone cares.

“But I have a little bit of news. I’ve obviously been taking a little bit of a break from stand-up and it’s really made me… want to carry on taking a break from stand-up.”

He added: “I’ve been thinking a lot about a diary entry that I found from 1997.” An excerpt of his old diary then popped on screen, as the BBC Radio 6 star explained: “It’s this one. I was 14 years old, it says although I would love to be a stand-up comedian, I’ll probably end up being a teacher. And I’ve been thinking a lot about that.”

In a bombshell moment, Jon revealed: “I’ve loved being a comedian, it was absolutely the right choice. But I’ve decided it would’ve been nice to try the other option, so that’s exactly what I’m gonna do.”

He then surprisingly shared that he’d already accepted a teaching job, stating: “I’ve been doing some training, I’ve taken a teaching position. I will update you as and when I can. but that’s all from me for now, just to let you know where I’ve been. I’ll keep you posted.”
