A mother claims her young daughter was left in tears when Santa allegedly denied her entry to his Grotto at Hyde Park’s Winter Wonderland. Courtney Bardell, 25, recounted a disappointing visit last Saturday with her partner and three daughters, enduring long queues, overcrowding, and a £270 expense on travel, passes, and food.
Winter Wonderland’s organizers explained that access to see Santa may be halted during busy periods, as workers take scheduled breaks. Despite the chaotic experience, Courtney, from Wellingborough, Northamptonshire, expressed her decision not to revisit the event, citing unexpected overcrowding and a rushed Santa Grotto visit that upset her daughter Harlie-Mae.
Courtney described the overwhelming crowd upon their arrival at 2 pm, with her children facing difficulties due to the congestion. Disappointed by the lack of seating and the rushed meal experience, she later took her children to a local grotto to make up for the disappointing Winter Wonderland visit.
In response, a Winter Wonderland spokesperson emphasized visitor safety, citing timed entries and ticketing systems to manage crowds efficiently. Acknowledging the disappointment faced by visitors, another woman shared her shock at the high prices at the attraction, spending £70 on food and drink during her visit.
