UK’s major broadband providers have been ranked based on customer complaints, according to the latest report from the UK regulator Ofcom. TalkTalk, Vodafone, and EE were at the bottom of the list, receiving more complaints than the industry average. Ofcom stated that these three companies had the highest number of broadband complaints, with TalkTalk and Vodafone experiencing an increase in complaints compared to the previous quarter.
On the positive side, Plusnet emerged as the least complained-about broadband provider, followed by Sky in second place and Virgin Media in third place for the least number of grievances. Despite being under the same ownership as BT, Plusnet and EE showed significantly different complaint performance.
In terms of specific complaint numbers per 100,000 customers, Plusnet had 4 complaints, Sky had 6, and Virgin Media had 7. On the other hand, TalkTalk, EE, and Vodafone each had 10 complaints per 100,000 customers.
Aside from broadband, Ofcom also monitors complaints in other services such as landline and pay-TV. Utility Warehouse led in landline complaints with only 1 per 100,000 customers, while Sky, Virgin Media, and Vodafone also performed well in this category. TalkTalk, however, ranked lowest in landline complaints with 8 per 100,000 customers.
In terms of TV complaints, TalkTalk had the least issues with 2 complaints per 100,000 customers, followed by Sky with 3, Virgin Media with 5, and EE with 6 complaints.
Overall, complaint levels across broadband, landline, mobile, and pay-TV remained steady compared to the previous quarter. Ernest Doku, a telecoms expert, expressed concern over the lack of improvement in the industry despite stable complaint volumes. He highlighted Plusnet’s exceptional performance in customer service and advised consumers to reevaluate their service providers as annual prices increase.
