Rebecca Loos has insisted she “never lied” about her alleged affair with David Beckham. The former model claimed she and the footballer had a fling back in the early 2000s when he was married to Victoria Beckham.
The football star has always denied that anything happened and in a new interview, Rebecca has now claimed it was “very brave” for her to speak out about the alleged affair, as she insisted she has “stuck to the truth”.
“In my opinion, it was a very brave thing to do to go up against them. I have stuck to the truth. I’ve never exaggerated. I never lied about a single thing. Why? Because I’m going up against the strongest, most powerful couple in the media who have all the money in the world for the best PR, the best lawyers. And all I had on my side was the truth,” she said on 60 Minutes Australia.
The claims were first made back in 2004 and David addressed the allegations in his recent Netflix documentary. He said at the time: “I don’t know how we got through it in all honesty. Victoria is everything to me.
“To see her hurt was incredibly difficult, but we’re fighters. We needed to fight for each other and for our family. What we had was worth fighting for.” Victoria then added in her own interview as part of the documentary: “It felt like the world was against us. And here’s the thing – we were against each other if I’m being completely honest.”
In response, Rebecca said that David was “indirectly suggesting” she had “made Victoria suffer”.
“Yes, the stories were horrible, but they’re true. He talks in the documentary about this ultimately being his private life, shutting it down. I think it’s one thing to keep your private life to yourself. It’s another thing to mislead the public,” she had said.
In a recent interview, Rebecca claimed David was making himself look like the “victim”.
She said: “I understand he has an image to preserve, but he is portraying himself as the victim and he’s making me look like a liar, like I’ve made up these stories. It’s all, ‘Poor me.’ He needs to take responsibility.”
At the time, David issued a statement to deny anything had happened. He said: “During the past few months I have become accustomed to reading more and more ludicrous stories about my private life.
“What appeared this morning is just one further example. The simple truth is that I am very happily married and have a wonderful wife and two very special kids. There is nothing any third party can do to change this.”
