Relief as Virginia Giuffre’s injuries deemed non-life-threatening after worrying ‘days to live’ post

Must read

Friends of Prince Andrew sex abuse accuser Virginia Giuffre have expressed relief after being told her car crash injuries are not life-threatening. The 41-year-old had posted a dramatic message on Instagram from a hospital bed over the weekend, saying she had been given only four days to live. Ms Giuffre said she was suffering kidney failure following a collision with a school bus near Perth, Western Australia, and feared she was at death’s door.

“They’ve given me four days to live,” she wrote, sparking widespread concern and an outpouring of support. She added: “I’m ready to go, just not until I see my babies one last time,” she wrote. “But you know what they say about wishes. S*** in one hand and wish in the other and I guarantee it’s still going to be s*** at the end of the day.”

However, medical officials treating Ms Giuffre have since clarified that while she sustained injuries in the accident, her condition is not critical, and she is expected to survive. The news has come as a huge relief to those close to her, many of whom had feared the worst after her distressing social media post.

“She’s going to be okay, and that’s all that matters,” a friend said. “Obviously, she’s been through a lot, and any accident like this is a shock. But the reports that she was on the brink of death were, thankfully, not accurate.”

Despite Ms Giuffre’s claim that she was critically injured in a high-speed collision with a school bus, police and medical authorities in Western Australia have downplayed the severity of the crash. Acting Police Commissioner Kylie Whitely was asked about Ms Giuffre’s condition and stated that a “minor” accident occurred between a car and a bus in a rural area north of Perth on March 24.

According to WA Police, a 71-year-old woman was driving the car at the time of the incident, with a 41-year-old woman in the passenger seat. Authorities confirmed that nobody was taken to hospital from the scene and that no serious injuries were recorded. St John WA ambulance services also reported that they had no record of any emergency response resulting in hospitalisation.

When pressed on whether this incident involved Ms Giuffre, Commissioner Whitely declined to confirm, stating: “We have no report of any serious injuries. But that is all that we have in relation to that matter.” The discrepancy between Ms Giuffre’s harrowing account of the crash and the authorities’ more measured assessment has raised questions about the exact nature of the accident and the extent of her injuries.

Her Instagram post prompted a wave of sympathy and concern. Her father, Sky Roberts, posted a heartfelt message in response: “Virginia, my daughter, I love you and praying you get the correct treatment to live a long and healthy life.”

Ms Giuffre alleged billionaire paedophile Jeffrey Epstein trafficked her for sex at the age of 16 after she was recruited by his associate Ghislaine Maxwell while working as a locker room attendant at Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort in Palm Beach, Florida.

She claims she was forced to have sex with Prince Andrew on at least three occasions when she was 17, including while in London. Prince Andrew has always vehemently denied the allegations.

However, in 2022, he reached an out-of-court settlement with Ms Giuffre, reportedly worth £12 million, after she filed a civil lawsuit In New York. The agreement did not admit liability, but the Duke of York, 65, agreed to pay an unspecified sum to Giuffre and her victims’ rights charity.

The allegations and his disastrous 2019 Newsnight interview led to his withdrawal from public life as a senior royal. The scandal resulted in Andrew losing his military titles, royal patronages, and the use of his His Royal Highness title. Giuffre found herself at the heart of a global scandal when she launched legal action against Epstein in 2015.

She eventually reached an undisclosed settlement with Maxwell in a defamation case in 2017. Epstein died in prison in August 2019 while awaiting trial on sex trafficking charges. Maxwell was convicted in 2021 and sentenced to 20 years in prison for conspiring with Epstein to sexually abuse minors.
