Sydney Sweeney reunited with her co-star Glen Powell after calling off her wedding as she ditched her engagement ring. The Euphoria actress, 27, broke off her engagement with fiancé Jonathan Davino as their seven-year romance came to an abrupt end.
She is said to be taking time apart amid their relationship struggles, having not been spotted together since January. The couple were reportedly due to be heading down the aisle in May, yet it has now been called off.
The actress previously sparked romance rumors while working on the romantic comedy Anyone But You with Hollywood heartthrob Glen. As they promoted the film, fans noticed their intense chemistry, with many pointing out how touchy and flirty they were during interviews.
Sydney later shut down the speculation while hosting Saturday Night Live, calling the online rumors “disorienting and unfair.” However, the pair have reunited amid Sydney’s heartbreak.
She joined Glen at his sister Leslie’s wedding rehearsal dinner at Joe Leo Fine Tex Mex this weekend. In photos shared by gossip site DeuxMoi, Sydney spent time with his family in Texas.
The actress was also spotted having brunch with some of Glen’s family, while the Top Gun: Maverick star was absent according to a source.
Sydney looked gorgeous as she joined in the celebrations and wore a fitted long-sleeve outfit with her long blonde locks in light waves.
Glen, who moved back to Texas last year, wore a green polo shirt as he sat among the large group. An insider told TMZ that Glen and Sydney did not attend the dinner as a couple.
They claimed she was accompanied by her best friend and had already RSPV’d for the wedding before she postponed her own. Sydney is said to be “very close” to his sister Leslie and “good friends” with Glen’s family.
The star ditched her engagement ring as she posted an update on Instagram from a beach. Her post racked up thousands of likes as she sat on the sand in a pink mini dress, with Glen showing his love for the upload.
In 2023, Glen also responded to romance rumours between him and Sydney after he split from girlfriend Gigi Paris. He denied any romance with Sydney and said on the Today show: “No, but we do love each other. And, honestly, this is one of the most spectacular humans I’ve ever met. She’s really great.”
A source previously claimed Sydney and Jonathan were “halting” their plans to tie the knot. “Sydney and Jonathan have split and are having time apart from each other,” a source told The Sun.
They added: “They were supposed to be getting married in May but for now that’s off and they’re seeing where they go from here. Their relationship has become strained since the start of the year and right now they’re no longer together.
“Their friends hope they can work this out as they make such a great couple but Sydney has made it clear she needs space.”
Speaking to PageSix, one insider said: “Sydney and Jonathan have been having major issues but are not fully split. Things are not great right now, but they aren’t throwing in the towel yet. They are working on their relationship but have called off the wedding for now.”
Their plans were originally to wed in the spring, but the 27-year-old actress reportedly cancelled the ceremony as she “couldn’t handle the stress.”
According to the source, the Madame Web star has been “extremely busy” with her acting career and this has brought new added “tension” to their relationship.
The source added: “Things are also always tense between them when she is promoting a movie because she has to give her full attention to the project, and people always speculate about their relationship and Sydney being close to her co-stars. It’s a tough dynamic for Jonathan.”
