“Teen Darts Sensation’s Minimal Practice Stuns Phil Taylor”

Must read

Darts icon Phil Taylor was taken aback when Luke Littler revealed his minimal practice plans before defending the £1m World Darts Championships title. Littler aims to join a select group by retaining the Sid Waddell Trophy. The prestigious darts event kicks off on Thursday night, with Littler facing Lithuanian Darius Labanauskas in the opening round.

Despite being just 18 years old from Warrington, Littler intends to enter the tournament with minimal intentional practice, surprising the 16-time world champion Taylor. Taylor expressed his astonishment on SunSport’s Flight Club, noting Littler’s unique preparation approach.

Taylor, known for his rigorous practice routine during his 31-year darts career, emphasized the mental aspect of the sport as the key challenge for players at Ally Pally. He highlighted the importance of mental preparation and avoiding over-practicing, especially with the significant £1m prize at stake this year. Taylor stressed the need for players to strike a balance in their preparation to ensure peak performance throughout the three-week tournament.
