Lighter evenings, blue skies and warmer temperatures can only mean one thing: spring is officially here. However, with all the amazing aspects of a new season also comes the downfalls, A.K.A hayfever season.
Typically running from the end of March until mid-May for tree pollen, mid-May to July for Grass Pollen and July to September for weed pollen, hayfever season takes up a significant portion of the year and if you suffer from it, you’ll know just how annoying it can get. But I’ve found a hugely simple way to deal with the symptoms and stop hayfever from ruining your make-up.
The solution is Farmacy’s Honey Savior Skin Repair Salve, £33. This handy multi-purpose balm has helped massively reduce my itchy eyes and running nose.
All you need to do is take a tiny bit of the balm and rub it around your nostrils and in the corner of your eyes. The balm’s tackiness stops pollen from reaching your nose and eyes, ultimately allowing you to enjoy your spring/summer in peace.

The best thing about this balm is that it’s soothing and nourishing, making it perfect for those with sensitive skin, and of course, the application to sensitive areas such as the eyes.
Although at £33, it is on the pricier side, however, the large tube will definitely last for a few summers, especially considering you only need a tiny amount of the product for it to work effectively.
Additionally, as it’s a multi-purpose balm, you can use it for a wide range of problems. From calming sunburns to repairing cracked skin, moisturising cuticles, and taming flyaway hairs, this salve really does do it all.
The only issue I have with the Honey Savior is that it can get pretty oily/liquified if left unused for a while or in warmer temperatures. Therefore, I recommend keeping it in the fridge and getting it out just before you plan to use it.
If you’re looking for something slightly more affordable, HayMax’s Pure Organic Drug-Free Allergen Barrier Balm is £8.49, and can be used around the nostrils and eyes to protect against allergies.
Alternatively, if you would prefer not to use a balm, Sterimar’s Hayfever & Allergy Relief, £6.29, is a natural spray that helps to cleanse the nasal passage from allergens while being free from drugs, steroids and preservatives.
