A tragic incident occurred in Rome where a Japanese tourist, Morimasa Hibino, fell to his death from the Pantheon’s perimeter wall in front of his daughter. The 69-year-old lost his balance and fell approximately 22 feet at around 9:50 pm local time. Authorities were alerted by a passing priest who discovered the man in a ditch. Despite the efforts of emergency services and firefighters, the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Law enforcement is currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident. According to reports, the man was sitting on the edge of the wall before falling due to losing his balance. CCTV footage of the area where the man was sitting has been obtained as part of the investigation. The man’s daughter informed the police that her father fell after being overwhelmed by a sudden illness.

The Pantheon, known for being Rome’s well-preserved ancient monument and a popular tourist attraction, was the site of this tragic incident. This event comes shortly after an American tourist from Taiwan living in the United States suffered serious injuries while attempting to take a selfie at Rome’s Colosseum. The man, aged 47, fell onto a sharp metal spike after slipping from one of the railings between the Colosseum’s arches. He was transported to San Giovanni Hospital for emergency surgery and was later reported to be in serious but stable condition.
