Trainer’s Duo Triumphs: Oscars Brother Wins Boodles Chase

Must read

A trainer, managing only two horses, achieved a significant victory alongside his jockey brother as Oscars Brother triumphed in the Boodles Florida Pearl Novice Chase at Punchestown. The competition featured horses from top Irish stables, including Gordon Elliott and Henry de Bromhead, as well as the fourth-placed horse in the 2025 Stayers’ Hurdle, Rocky’s Diamond.

Despite the tough competition, Connor King, the trainer, outperformed them all with Oscars Brother, expertly guided by his brother and jockey, Daniel, around the County Kildare track. Maintaining a leading position throughout the race, Oscars Brother, the 7-4 favorite, displayed impeccable jumping skills to secure a three-length victory over De Bromhead’s Koktail Divin.

Prior to the three-mile race on soft to heavy ground at Galway, Oscars Brother had undergone preparation. The duo now aspires to have a Grade One contender in their stables, which currently house only one other racehorse in training.

Daniel expressed his joy in riding a winning horse trained by his brother, describing it as a fantastic experience. He commended the horse’s progress and determination, emphasizing their hopes for future success in higher-tier races.

Looking ahead, Connor, a former jockey, hinted at the possibility of entering Oscars Brother in the Grade One Faugheen Novices’ Chase at Limerick during the Christmas period. Reflecting on the horse’s transition from hurdles to chasing, Connor highlighted the strategic planning and optimism surrounding Oscars Brother’s future racing endeavors.

The potential inclusion of Oscars Brother in the upcoming prestigious race signifies the trainer’s confidence in the horse’s abilities and the team’s strategic approach to achieving success in competitive events.
