Samsung TV owners in the UK are set to receive a significant enhancement with a new free upgrade that will bring additional content options. UKTV has announced that its popular free-to-air linear channels will soon be accessible on Samsung screens, allowing viewers in the UK to enjoy content without the need for extra devices.
The channels will be streamed over the internet, eliminating the requirement for a traditional aerial connection. Samsung will introduce a dedicated section on its home screen to showcase content from the U streaming service, making it easier for viewers to discover and watch classic comedies, dramas, and factual shows without navigating through menus.
In the upcoming months, Samsung TVs will provide direct access to channels like U&DRAMA, U&Dave, U&Yesterday, U&W, and U&Eden through a seamless integration with the U app via Samsung’s Universal Guide. This rollout will encompass millions of Samsung TVs, featuring the channels prominently in the ‘Live’ tab and Universal Guide, ensuring easy access to UKTV’s live and on-demand content for viewers relying on internet-based TV services.
Jonathan Newman, General Manager of Commercial at UKTV and BBC Studios UK and Ireland, expressed enthusiasm about the strengthened partnership with Samsung, emphasizing the enhanced accessibility of the U app to Samsung customers and the increased visibility of UKTV’s diverse content offerings.
Dan Harvie, Vice President of Home Entertainment and Appliances at Samsung UK and Ireland, highlighted UKTV’s significant contribution to the entertainment lineup on Samsung TVs, stating that the collaboration aims to enrich the entertainment experience by granting access to a wide array of broadcast content.

Although an official launch date has not been disclosed, the new features are expected to roll out on Samsung TVs in the coming days.
