A 20-year-old college student tragically lost her life after being hit by a hit-and-run driver while jogging near Lawrence Regional Airport in Kansas City. The victim, identified as Elsa McGrain, a University of Kansas student from Omaha, Nebraska, was found dead almost 10 hours after the incident. She was expected to graduate in 2026.
Authorities discovered Elsa’s body in the early hours of Friday morning after a passerby reported seeing her along the road. The investigation revealed that she had died while running in the area. The police released images of a white pickup truck believed to be involved in the incident. Although no charges have been filed yet, a 36-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of involuntary manslaughter.
Elsa, who was an active member of Chi Omega and held the position of house manager, was remembered by her sorority with a heartfelt message on Instagram. Described as a kind, genuine, and compassionate individual, Elsa’s presence had a positive impact on everyone around her.
