WhatsApp to Introduce Parent-Managed Accounts

Must read

WhatsApp is set to introduce a significant update aimed at alleviating parental concerns. The forthcoming feature will empower adults to impose specific restrictions on devices, preventing pre-teens from accessing certain functions or participating in group chats without authorization.

Moreover, parents or guardians will have the ability to determine who can interact with the account, thus preventing strangers from initiating contact unexpectedly. They can also monitor message requests from unfamiliar contacts and manage the account’s privacy settings.

According to WhatsApp, the platform is a trusted means of family communication due to its simplicity, privacy, and reliability. The company stated, “With insights from families and experts, we are introducing new parent-managed accounts that enable parents or guardians to configure WhatsApp for pre-teens, incorporating controls to restrict their usage to messaging and calling.”

To initiate this feature, parents will need to link their own device with the one designated for their family member. Once set up, the parent or guardian will have full control over these accounts, exclusively managing and modifying privacy settings to customize the family’s experience.

All personal conversations remain confidential and secure with end-to-end encryption, ensuring that no one, not even WhatsApp, can access or intercept them. WhatsApp plans to implement this update gradually in the upcoming months, seeking user feedback to enhance the platform as the safest and most private way for families to stay connected.
