A woman’s alleged fake pregnancy caused a stir on the internet when it was revealed that she had pretended to give birth to a doll instead of a real baby. Kira Cousins, a 22-year-old woman from Airdrie, Scotland, is accused of deceiving her partner, family, and friends by wearing a fake baby bump, sharing false hospital updates, and even organizing a gender-reveal party for her supposed “baby girl,” named Bonnie-Leigh. She posted photos of baby items, including a pricey pram and car seat, leading loved ones to believe a real child was on the way.
The supposed birth announcement of her “daughter” in October turned out to be a hoax when her mother discovered the doll in Kira’s room. Reports suggest that Kira went to great lengths over about nine months, using a prosthetic bump, fake ultrasound images, and fabricating a heart condition for the fake baby. Despite the elaborate deception, her boyfriend and his family were unaware of the truth and believed the pregnancy was genuine.
Reborn dolls, lifelike art dolls resembling human infants, are typically sold between £30 and £2,000. Kira’s boyfriend and his family were reportedly blindsided by the revelation that the baby was a doll. The extent of how Kira managed to keep up the charade for months without raising suspicion remains unclear.
Allegedly, Kira prevented her partner from accompanying her to medical appointments and claimed that he was not supportive of the pregnancy due to the short duration of their relationship. Messages purportedly sent by Kira indicated that she informed her partner of the fake baby’s death. Friends and family members expressed shock and disbelief upon learning the truth about the fabricated pregnancy.
Kira eventually acknowledged the hoax on TikTok, stating that her family confronted her after finding out the truth. She emphasized that she had not escaped consequences for her actions.
